My Story
My early fascination for all things otherworldly and fantastical inevitably led me to video games – mostly RPGs – my cyber-awakening being triggered by the Prince of Persia floppy disk I was handed in 1995.
In three decades, I have lived countless lives. I have wandered in trap-ridden castles, frantically fired dual pistols at blood-sucking bats and caught my fair share of Pokémon. I have brandished hundreds of swords, shot thousands of arrows, wielded black and white magic, summoned demons, entered Chocobo races and soared into the skies on dragonback. I have solved gravity-defying puzzles while suffering through the unrelenting harassment of the evilest AI, and never even got the cake I was repeatedly promised.
All in all, I have painfully grinded millions of levels and probably died more times than Sean Bean.
My professional life (the fake one, in which drinking does not replenish your Mana) has been almost as eventful as my virtual one. Up until February 2020, I was a litigation lawyer at the Paris Bar and, if I do say so myself, I have fought pretty epic battles there too. However, this nonetheless intellectually-challenging occupation eventually felt like it was lacking the creativity I crave on a day-to-day basis. Which is why I decided to change my career path and become a Unity Game Developer.
From September 2021 to March 2024, I worked as a Software Developer at a small agency called L'Œil du Chat. Since April 2024, I have been working as a Software Developer in a team building company called CBR Teambuilding.
Catching the coding bug
I have loved computers for most of my life, and IT in general has always been something I felt comfortable with. In 2019, I decided that it was time for me to learn how to actually make games. I started teaching myself how to use Unity, as well as the basics of C# and object-oriented programming and, not before long, I had caught the coding bug.
Programming is fun and incredibly empowering: I don't think I've experienced anything else that can make you go, in mere seconds, from the average person to a full-blown master of creation. I also think Unity is an amazing, versatile tool and I have had a lot of fun using it to develop all sorts of projects.
